My favorite project was the sgraffito plate because I got to create a shape I wanted to. I also got to pick something I wanted to carve out and make it look really cool.
I struggled with making the smooth coil pot into a more flat and rectangle shape. I started making it round and after a few coils I tried moving it to that more rectangular shape but it was not easy to do. It took a lot of smoothing and thinning of the inside of the bottom part of the clay. But I was able to move it to the shape I wanted it to be.
When I walked into ceramics I didn't know a lot. I knew how to make certain shapes, I knew how to make coils, and I knew how to scratch and attach but that was it. I learned how to make pinch pots, I learned how to glaze clay, I learned how to make a sgraffito plate and I learned how to really smooth clay. I liked making different projects and then being able to glaze them. Then be able to take all of them home.
